Fort Lee Board of Education Elementary School #1 HVAC Upgrade
Owner: Fort Lee Board of Education
Client: Fort Lee Board of Education
Location: Fort Lee, NJ
Completion Year: 2020
Macan Deve prepared a permitting plan for an HVAC upgrade at the Fort Lee Elementary School #1 in Fort Lee, NJ. Elementary School #1 is a two-story school building located on a multi-building site. The building has 10 rooms per floor consisting of 8 classrooms, one half-sized office and a guidance office. There are power panels in an electrical closet at the center of each floor. The existing installation has Aerco boilers supplying hot water to the unit ventilators for heating. Originally the school boiler plant employed a second masonry chimney which is now capped off in the boiler room and dormant. The building has a pipe chase at each of the four corners of the building. The HVAC upgrade includes VRF systems (ceiling cassettes) in all of the classrooms, tied back to two condensing units on the roof. The intent of this project is to complete system upgrade while school year is in progress with no disruption to the school operation. Construction is thus planned to be phased during off hours when classes were not in session with clean-up completed prior to start of classes the next day. Asbestos abatement will be conducted based upon predefined penetrations for each line set.
